What is the best time for a family portrait on the beach in LBI? Today we will be answering that very question. During the Summer the perfect time of day actually moves a little bit. The longest day is June 21st, the time gets later or earlier based around that week. As the best family beach photographers in Beach Haven New Jersey we have a few tips for when to schedule your family photos.

To cut to the chase the perfect time is roughly 15 minutes before the sun goes down. During June/July that time is around 8 PM. We like to schedule the start time at 7:30. That way we roll right into the perfect time of evening as we are winding down the session. We are very efficient and move right along. Our average time is 30-40 minutes for a small family group and 45 minutes for a larger family group.

We know that a 7:30 start time doesn’t work well with toddlers and babies bedtimes. We can always move the time up but just be aware it will still be extremely bright and the sun will still be harsh.

During the months of August/September the sunset moves up dramatically. over the course of those months we move our start time from 7:30 all the way to 6. Not only does the sun set earlier but we also lose light a lot faster after it goes down.
